Unfortunately today, the "game of school" is being played by many students. Instead of getting assignments done the proper way, students have found a way to cheat the system and manipulate it in a way so they have to do as little work as possible. In the article it talked about how students, in elementary school, had already found a way to get out of reading a book completely. At such a young age one would think students would be clueless about this, but clearly that is wrong. I will admit that I was very tempted to do this in high school with my own work, but I tried to stay on track as much as I could. Many kids in my school did stick to this "game of school" though. Instead of actually reading an assignment they would skim over it just to find the answers. This not only cheats the system, but it causes them to cheat themselves. They aren't fully absorbing the information, and getting the most out of it. Although high school is extremely important, personally I find college to be more influential on my future life. I am not going to continue the games that were played back in high school. My approach as a student here is to get all of my work done, and do it to the best of my ability. It's not fair to myself or my teachers if I don't have in my best work. I think the game of schools does nothing to improve schools, it only hurts them. In this game, students aren't doing everything they can to succeed, they're just doing what they can to get by without failing. According to this article, some teachers aren't trying to push students to succeed either, they just want them to hand in assignments when they're due. This does nothing but hurt students, and certainly does not help prepare them for a prospering, thriving future.
